Back In Battle - First Person Shooter Video Game - Need $500 Help Fund!

Hey Unity Fourms,

I have working on a video game and have been stumped by the limitations of free software. I tried to hold out as long as I could with free software. Then, I remembered about kickstarter, but it was not available in canada, so I got indiegogo. Anyways, right now we got some pretty basic features down like:

Weapons (Switching, Reloading, Aiming)

Terrain (Grass) - Very Low Res

Player (Crouching, Looking, Health)

Enemies (Very bad animations and AI)

Turrets (Not too bad)

Death Screen

Menu screen (Don’t have text on them yet)

I know I’m using FPSKit. Don’t worry, as we get more money, I’ll remove the stock weapons and replace them with my own. Only the scripts will be his.

Right now that’s pretty much it. One terrible map. As seen In the video. We need money to make it better. Our plans with the money are to get tools that will have:

Better Player Animations

Map Creation Tools

Physics

Campaign

Multiplayer

Attack Mode (Pretty much a mode where you play in multiplayer maps with bots)

We are accepting any features you want to see in the game. Just leave me a post and I’ll consider it.

But, first we need funding, we need $500.

If you want to help us make the game, please help us fund this thing! And if you can’t, the least you can do is tell people about it. Maybe they might want to support. You never know.

So, please, if you want to see this game become a reality, go here: Back In Battle - First Person Shooter - PC and Mac | Indiegogo

Anyone that wants to help with models or anything else, feel free to contact me at: gocanadago12@gmail.com

Thanks!

So…you want to purchase different packs from the asset store and put them together to create a realistic FPS better than call of duty, battlefield, etc…

And you are asking for $500?..The companies involved in these games spend millions of dollars to get the kind of game play they have now…

Plenty of indie devs here have created great games or demos with the free tools available to them.

Instead of buying a bunch of models from the asset store learn how to model and texture and program yourself.

You are a kid and have plenty of time to learn everything needed to create a good game.

Any good place to start?

Agree with Darkhazard, try to make by your own it will help u

You just stole FPS Kit and calling it your own game. What a shame.

Start by going through some tutorials on youtube. Modelling anything basic or creating textures is a good place to start.

Also if you can take a few programming classes, not sure how old you are, but if none are available to you pick up a beginners book on programming. If you want to jump straight into unity start with c#.

I think there are some books that are unity specific that will teach you the basics. If there are I’m not sure how much they help.

Just kind of pick a place to start and you’ll get better with practice. Any questions on programming you can post in the answers section. Good luck!

I’m not saying the Unity specific books aren’t good, but if you are new to programming, instead of learning Tool-specific instructions you need to learn logic and programming language as a whole. Following step-by-step instructions on how to make a specific scene will get you that end result, but it won’t help you learn the logic that is behind the code.

And no book, web tutorial, or even class at a local school can make you a programmer overnight. It’s a long and lonely road but the end result is worth all the patience and preserverance you put into it. If you only put in the slightest amount, then you’ll be very junior. If you spend hours learning, researching, and expanding your horizons, you’ll truly be one of the few, the proud, the… erm, elite.

I LOLed at this… Giving out titles like candy

Not one of those things can be justified as requiring money to improve…

Agreed. money doesnt make any of these things better unless youre planning on hiring people from the forums to help you…My suggestion is slow down take the time to learn game design step by step, not only is it cheaper but it also gives you the tools that are needed to dev your own game. :]

It will be quite difficult to make a complete game by just purchasing everything you need from the asset store (if that is what you were planning on). Is that what the $500 is going towards?

Download Blender and start there, Unity is the last step in game making process. It takes a very long time to even be ready to start developing a game within Unity. You will spend many long hours within your Modeler program and any other asset create programs.

It would be a good thing also to start with sounds and creating them on your own.

You do not NEED money to make your map better.

What are you exactly going to be using this money on?

This forum is full of individuals that begin with their first post like you have done. If you want serious help from this community or any community, it would be advantageous for you to reply to other people’s threads, add your insight(s) and so on, so we can get to know you and when you start a thread, as this one, the community will be more open to listening and helping because we got a chance to know you a bit.

You didn’t mention what the game was about. I would include that in your first post and any other new feature I would edit the first post once again.

WIP is the new ‘Collaboration’ if you know what I mean…
