Background question

Hello
I’m working on a spaceshooter type of game. I want to design a fancy background with the 3d models i found from web. Thought of 2 ways of doing it:

  1. A terrain ( 50x600 ). And keep it repating it self. But designing beging and ending seems like gonna be a problem

  2. A cylinder prepared in maya or 3dmax kinda program. And keep it rotating. But in this case can it have any moving stuff on background ( cars…etc)

any idea of which one will be more efficent like less disk space or even less time consuming

  1. For mobile game, Unity terrain isn’t very optimal solution performance wise.
