i’m trying to texture the terrain (which was made with unity). Without VR it would look kind of nice but in vr it looks really bad. To show you im using 3 textures:
The Stone texture (2400x1800): I know it looks quite nice but in vr it looks nearly terrible blurred.
The Standard Gras Texture from Unity (i guess 1024x1024?)
and a single color brown (512x512)
In Terrain Settings i already set the control texture resolution to 2048.
What’s the problem? the field which get painted seem muuuuch to big… any idea? Brush size is already at 1.
Is it just possible to have a nice colored terrain without texture (single color style)?
Sorry for bad english.
Greets from Ger.
ps. output quality settings are at level fantastic
I’ve noticed in quite a few VR games often times textures end up looking like painted cloth. Even in the Valve VR lab demo of the solar system, when I got up close to the sun it looked like cloth to me.
I think certain type of ways of doing things that work in normal games won’t for VR. Part of the reason is that in VR a person can move their head right up against something, so a texture designed to be seen 3 ft away gets looked at from a few inches away a lot in VR. There also might be an issue that certain texture “tricks” don’t work quite so well when a person has their full stereo vision available to them. Kind of like how certain magician tricks only work because of the audience’s fixed perspective in front of the stage.
