Bake substances into regular textures

I have some questions using substances with iOS. The 3.4 release states “Bake substances into regular textures and materials on mobile platforms” How does this happen? I have “generate on load” selected.

I added some substances in a scene, but the game now crashes, I think due to memory. What is the correct procedure to use substances on iOS?

A good question. It ould be nice to disable the baking on build time and cal only manual update of the substances.
This would give the possibility to generate some textures at level load.
