baked lights make it too heavy?

I’m having troubles with the illumination and using lights, so i decided to lightmap all my scene, but when i integrated my characters they are very dark, and if i add some lights then the baked textures of the scenario look extremely white. So, is it a good idea to bake the textures of my charactres so they look naturally brightly? would it be too heavy for the game? thanx very much!

Exclude the lightmapped surfaces from the realtime lights, and only have them effect the objects that aren’t lightmapped.
