Baking occlusion culling crashes Unity at 100%

I have an occlusion area set up in my scene, I have all my trees and terrain as static. I start baking and everything is fine until it gets to about 100% and Unity crashes. I see other people have encountered this problem but any issue I saw in my searches never got answered. What could be causing this? I’m using Unity 5.1.0f3 Personal.

Hi @Fatalis and @DarthDisembowel,

This is a known issue, along with so many other related to occlusion and lighting. For this particular bug I found out that creating multiple occlusion areas will result almost all the times in a successful bake. Sometimes not even this works, so I guess that this thread is yet another not-that-subtle cry for help at Unity people

I just discovered that disabling terrain during the bake allowed me to bake without crashing. Obviously not a permanent solution but a decent workaround for me at the moment since the terrain is mostly scenery in my game. I had tried adding an occlusion area, but then I was getting crashes as soon as I opened the occlusion panel :S
