Banding artifact in LW Render Pipeline

I have a large mesh that I am using for a terrain. Using 2018.1.0f1 (the release candidate) and the LW Render Pipeline, I am getting a banding artifact. See the round dark area in the attached screen grab. This appears in both the editor and camera render. The material uses the LWPipeline/Standard (Physically Based) shader Metallic mode. I can make the artifact go away by changing the Surface Type from Opaque to Transparent.

Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? I did not experience it in the 2017 versions.

Never mind! As typical, within minutes of posting a question about a problem I am having, I discover a solution.

Need to adjust the normal bias in the directional light.
