Hi. I got lots of assets. Playmaker, Adventure Creator, Fungus, etc. Working with them, yep I got them working…but the single snag that holds me back is BANDWIDTH… FILESIZE for Android!
I see neato assets on the Asset Store such as Haunted Manor, Haunted Bunker etc, and I want to buy them…they are WOW!.. BUT… I look at the Filesize 360MB!
How can people make games for Android with assets this big? It lists the package sizes, do you have to use ALL of the asset? How do people do it? I know they can, because I see great games for the Asset store.
This is the single biggest deterrent… that is holding me back.
Yes Eric I am! I look at the Filesizes of some of those neato assets…and get so discouraged I don’t know what to try. I am learning Blender now to make my own assets. Or I just give up at the get go. I clicked the link in your post, and thank you.
Again, the file sizes in the store are 100% (well, 99%) irrelevant with regard to build size. Ignore them. Having a 360MB file size in the store doesn’t even remotely mean the build is 360MB, for so many reasons I have given up on listing them before even starting. It would be a good idea to learn how the asset pipeline in Unity works.
OK I’ll look it up. There are so many cool looking assets, I was just thinking I could buy my way out. I started to learn Blender. There’s a lot to learn. I keep looking for the “Easy” button. Bought Playmaker. Bought Adventure Creator. Got Easy Cull. This one thing haunts me, the file sizes…thats what has been nagging me. Even the guy who made the Blender Udemy course said it took him a year to get his dungeon FPS online. The problem? The huge file size.
