Basic CG overview

UPDATE:

Here’s the complete Playlist.

Extremely simple videos showing development of a game character from initial sketch to scripting animations in Unity. Using GIMP for concept art, Blender for modeling, rigging, animation and texturing, and of course Unity. No real gameplay here, just a playable character.

I put something together. Far too long (50 mins/150MB) and needs a lot of polish. No narration. If you’re game check it out. It’s not meant to be exemplary, just indicative. I’m sure most people here are better artists than I am. And I didn’t quite get to the gameplay, just moving the character around the scene.

Content wise im very interested in this but i think you can present it in a better way. For example instead of having just 1 long video you can break it up into different chunks with each focusing on a different aspect. You’re also working a bit too quickly in the video so i think people who are beginners to these programs (like myself) will have trouble following along.

That said you have a great foundation for a topic that is honestly not covered much (there are few blender modeling tutorials out there that focus on integrating blender assets into Unity and even less on character modeling/texturing for games) so im definitely looking forward to seeing where you take this from here.

Thanks Twinny - I do have more game-related content on the drawing board. Future material will be more learner friendly.

It’s early days but here’s the storyboard for version 2. Actual tutorial will be in a week or two. This one is much shorter than the first one.

Thanks for producing this tutorial. I appreciate it.

I will keep coming back to these when I forget how to use Blender.

Glad you find them useful. I’ve pretty much finished, here’s the complete playlist.

I might add one or two more to create a more interesting game environment although that is easily found elsewhere already.
