Just noticed the press release today and was wondering what the price the Basic version of Unity 3.0 for Android will be and an approximate date it will be available + will there be a pre release discount?
From what mentioned:
- There will be one
- No date, will come when android is released which from the last mentioned version won’t be anytime now (it won’t happen along U3 and iphone 3, but that was mentioned months ago)
- it will not have discounts. The current discounts are there cause iphone as unity are both upgrades from previous ones while android is an all new platform.
We will definitely offer a Unity Android (basic version), it will be priced at $399 just like the base Unity iOS license. What we won’t be doing is offering that as a pre-release discounted purchase option, it will only be available once we hit the final release for Unity Android, which is not tied lock-step with Unity 3.0 (translation: we may ship 3.0 in final form before Unity Android).

I’ll aso be looking to purchase the Android Basic version when it comes out but can I just check that there will still be a free basic PC version of Unity 3.0?
Yes, of course we will continue to offer both Unity (free) and Unity Pro in the 3.x life time. 
Pardon my asking, but there were a few comments that made this ambiguous to me…
Is there a way either by trial or by pre-release to get an evaluation version of Unity for Android? My need is that I am trying to motivate some game dev at my shop (which does primarily enterprise dev) and also want to just eval before I buy.

Once its released there will surely be a trial similar to the iOS trial so you can evaluate it before buying it.
But right now its still in beta, if you want to get access to Unity Android beta you will have to invest in the Pro version.
