Basics for character modeling and animation

Hello everyone,
I’m somewhat of a newb in Unity. I know how to create terrain and model it, I can make models in Blender, and I’m getting the hang of lighting, textures, and physics. I’m working on an indie game with half a dozen or so of my friends, all of us know the basics of java. I’m in charge, and we’re pretty organized. I’ve come to a deadlock with character modeling/animation, and I hoped you all could give me some tips for a newb like me. I use Blender at the moment.
