BassAckwards Facebook App store...

I just went through the hell that is trying to make an App Details page for Facebook App store. After submitting my app for review (and immediately being denied for insufficient amount of user ratings), this is what I have found out:

In order to get an app on the Facebook App Store, you need a certain amount of stars from a 5 star rating system (makes sense). However, users don’t get to pick which app you can rate. Facebook randomly asks you to rate the apps in your app list (doesn’t make sense).

So, to get on the App store, you have to get noticed and get enough ratings to be allowed on the App store, but to get noticed and get enough ratings to be on the App store, you have to be on the App store…

What bloody moron made these rules up?

A system admin that doesn’t what to fool around with broken apps all day…

But seriously, I thought you just create a ‘business/fan page’ and then add your app to that page. Then you get your Facebook friends and whoever else is interested to play and rate and that popularity gets your app on the Facebook App Center.

Some wisdom from GigaOm or TechCruch to guide you that can be googled? I don’t know.

You don’t get to choose which app you can rate and when. Facebook randomly has a popup window asking you to rate an app. This makes it next to impossible to get enough ratings for the app store unless you are a huge company and can pay someone to sit around and wait for Facebook to ask if you want to rate the app.

Edit : that system admin who doesn’t want to mess with broken apps works for a company that takes 30% of revenue earned by those apps.

Edit 2: my Facebook app page has 90 some likes and only two ratings with stars. My fans just aren’t being asked to rate my app.

That’s messed up. I stopped playing Facebook games but people that have played the game should be asked to rate it. I’d suggest get those people that gave the 90 likes to ask Facebook to allow them to rate the game.

2 out of 90, at that rate you’ll need the volume of Zynga to get in the App Center. Which I think is Facebook’s intent even if they deny it. They know Zynga makes big money and 30% of that is nice for them compared to the unknown quantity your game might make.
