Hello everyone,
First at all, I am sorry for my bad english. It is not my first language and I think I’m awful using it.
I am registered here (learning and practicing Unity) a year ago, but it’s the first time that I write in this forums and I am glad to do it to introduce my first published videogame.

Edit: Trailer added for help you see the gameplay style.
Be the Fly is an arcade game made by only one person (me) where you will be a fly with which you have to annoy a person all that you can. Obviously the person reacts to your presence and he attacks you. Your goal is to annoy the person and to use your reflexes and reaction speed to dodge his quick attacks.
Be the Fly Features:
- 18 Achievements in Google Play Games.
- 6 Leaderboards of Google Play Games to compete with your friends or with everyone.
- 5 improvements to evolve your fly and make it even more annoying.
- Complete statistics for all your records.
- Different skins for your fly.
The game is easy to play but challenging to master.

Now I’m working on my next project but I will not leave this game. I will continue updating it occasionally.
Any question, doubt, problem or whatever, you can do it in this thread, in my email (contactfernandoadolfo@gmail.com), in my twitter account and, of course, in the comments of the app on Google Play.
A video would be nice. No android device to play on.
Nice concept. Take a very common idea and make it into a game with a twist.
Good job on the concept.
Thanks for your opinion! Make a video is one thing I was thinking on, but free video editors on windows are really bads. I’m fighting with one of them, maybe I can do one decent video to show, but I would like to do a good video, not only decent.
I’d like to launch the game on iOS devices but I haven’t neither Mac, for export, nor iphone/ipad for the test, so would be a little expensive for me right now. Maybe in the future if I can survive working on my own games.
You may want to consider a short demo instead. host on gamejolt or kongragate or just as a web player.
That’s another option.
Thanks! I knew nothing about these sites. I’ll think about it. Anyway, I’ll try to make a gameplay video for all people who don’t have Android devices or simple don’t want to download the game. So they can see the game and tell me their opinion. It will take some time, as I said I’m working on my next project. But I’ll try to do as soon as possible.
As I promised, I added a video in the first post to show you the gameplay style. This video is not my best video but I haven’t neither time nor tools to do it better, so I hope you can forgive me that. Waiting for your opinions about anything if you want to tell me yours.
OK Fernando I watched the video.
I think you have a real solid base to work from.
Two points I think can improve this - visually
The camera work is very linear and jerky. It would be nice if the camera was smooth and any quick movement is caused by the human swinging at you was done with speed. I’m not a code guy but there are several camera smooth code bits around to help you.
The second point is the animation of the human character is very stiff. The animation needs to propagate through his upper body. Right now he is just swinging his arms without any motion beyond his shoulders. Most arm motion unless consciously restricted, is accentuated by upper-body and head movement.
Thank you for the feedback!
About the camera, keep in mind that the video have some image slices that aren’t in the game itself. (Problems with recording and editing). In any case I can try to smooth it more. I’m a code guy.
About the animation of the human character, you are right and this was a headache from the beginning. I did the animation simple, from the shoulder to the fingers. It’s hard to animate humans when you have no experience because it is easy to detect something is wrong with their movement. It’s not the same with the fly, per example. In any case I didn’t need an ultrarealistic animation.
Anyway when I imported the animation to Unity, I tried to use Mecanim but I couldn’t. Mecanim modified the animation completely. With Mecanim this animation moved all the human body, from top to toe. Even when the animation only moved from shoulder to fingers. I could not know why, but I had to leave that simple animation and import it as a generic from Unity. Now I cannot change it because the gameplay depends too much of the animation.
As I said, I’m a code guy. This was my first game and these were my first 3d models and animations (and textures and all). I know I’ll do it better in the future, I only need to learn more so thank you for your help.

I played the game. For some reason I couldn’t find it on the market so I had to install it from link you gave us. I really like the idea. There are things I would like to suggest
-You could add a simple music to menu
-You have to add a replay button.
-I know you need ads but forcing someone to watch a whole video is pretty annoying , yet I understand how you think. Maybe you can put a video after three times of trying ; like user played - played - played - video - played - played - played - video or something like that.
- About graphics , well I’m a 3D modeller , so I think atmosphere could be better. Yet , as you said , you are a code guy. So this looks pretty good too. I can help If you require any music or 3D models.
A side question : How did you manage to achive 500+ download? Is there any secret for that?
Well, first of all, thank you for playing the game. I know my game can’t be found if you search for its name. Maybe it is because there are a lot of applications with “Fly” in their names and mine has too low downloads compared with the others. It’s the problem of choose a bad name. Proof of that is, when you search by my name, the game appears.
I wanted to include the song “Flight of the Bumblebee”. I think could be epic in this game, but copyright are a headache and, even thinking I could use it freely. I didn’t want to get in trouble with that. So I didn’t. I must get more info about this.
Add a replay button can be good, because go to the menu and start again is a little slow because of the animations. I’ll think about it.
I don’t understand why you said I force someone with the ads. Players can see one video ad if they want a reward. If they want the reward, they must see the full video. Video ads don’t appear automatically, only if you push the button to see them. And if you see one video ad fully, you cannot see more until 6 hours after. Only one video ad every 6 hours, only if the player want and the player get a reward for see it. I don’t think that’s forcing anyone.
About the downloads, I don’t know what I can tell you. The first month in Google Play is the most important for the game, because it can be in the ranking of top new games. If your game is in the list, more people can see it and try it. You can search info about ASO (App Store Optimization) for Google Play too. They are technics that make your app more visible, but they don’t do miracles. Marketing is more important, for sure, we must learn about it. The luck maybe can help a little…
I’m not the best for help you with this. My game has 500+ downloads, but it has ONLY 500+. If I knew how to improve my downloads I would have much more.
