Beast lightmap + specular shader on iphone?

Hi folks,

just a quick n00by question regarding the new lightmapper…

In my scene I have a bunch of static objects with specular shader and a point light set to “bake only”. When I click on “Bake” in the Lightmap window, the light information is applied to the main color of the specular shader, but the specular color isn’t visible at all. It’s just as if I would use the diffuse shader.

So,

  • am I using the lightmapper wrong perhaps?
  • or am I maybe trying to use a feature that’s pro only? (I’ve bought the non-pro version with ios support)
  • or is it just not working on the iphone?

To see specular highlights on lightmapped objects you would have to use Dual Lightmaps, but on the mobile devices we support Single Lightmaps only.

With a non-zero number of bounces you will still get specular interreflection on the surfaces that the specular component would bounce onto, so the result of using specular and diffuse shaders is different, but you won’t see specular reflection without Dual Lightmaps.
