Beast, UV, lighting and lightmapping are on a boat...

Hi,

I tried to lightmap a scene with beast (apartment) I’ve textured it in Unity, done a simple lighting in Unity and done all my unwraps in max ( UV Channel 2) because the lightmaps UV created by unity aren’t really much optimized and with the triangulation the maps aren’t really easy to clean.

After my beast render, my result is that all my lightmaps aren’t on the rights objects or the right UV…

Can someone tell me how do you do an proper lighting in general ? Should I forgive Beast and go back to the old school way → baking all the texture in max ?

Why do I have this problem ?

How do you guys do your rendering with beast ?

Cheers for the hints and helps

I tried again, and I notice that I’ve two errors appearing →

UV set on is incorrect. Lightmapper needs UVs inside the (0,1)x(0,1) space.
UnityEditor.DockArea:OnGUI()

Do someone knows what does that means ?

Few more tests and that error come from two objects only (need to find them between 150 objects).

I also noticed that Unity doesn’t use my UV and it combine several objects to build a lightmap.

How can i do to break in the Beast ? and make it use my UV and do want I want it to do?

How do you do your lightmapping ? old school way or beast way ?

For that error try to check if you have your lightmap unwrap in 0-1 texture space… Whole unwrap should be in square… unles you have others plans with it… To verify: open your unwrap editor and try Ctrl+A to select all, zoom out and verifi that all is in square…

Yep my unwraps are square like yours.

I should done one wrong, I’m checking to find which one…

Do you have any ideas for the connection between beast and my unwraps ?

I use to use the “old school” technique which is doing my unwraps and my lightmaps in max then use lightmapped bumped diffuse or lightmapped diffuse shaders in Unity.

I think beast will be faster, but I can’t manage to get it work.

Thank’s for your help, now I know what I must looking for.

Try to uncheck generate lightmap UV’s on import… Look in forum how to assign custom mapping for Beast. It was mentioned here many times… cheers.

Ok I’ll check that,

I did uncheck the generate lightmaps uv that’s why i don’t understand what’s happening…

cheers for your help

I’m sorry but I check about Custom UV, UV beast,… into the forum, unity answers, documentations,… I can’t found nothing,

So if someone knows how to force beast to use my UV and don’t combine objects,…

up!
