Hi guys,
I’m on the verge of putting out a new unity game for iOS (an android version should be coming later on), and thought I’d throw in a shameless plug here
Beat ball is a music beat collection game - You select a song/playlist from your device and during the game, you race down the tracks picking up beats generated in real time by your music. It goes without saying that beat intensive songs (like rock) will be more difficult than, say, smooth jazz. There are also different power ups that make the game more interesting…
The meter at the top of on the screen starts off with the time left in the song - picking up beat items adds seconds to it. There are also bad beats (or “Sharps”) that should normally be avoided, unless the player has certain powerups active. Picking them up will take away seconds from the meter. If the meter empties out while the song is still playing, its game over!
The coolest feature (for me anyway) is the ability for anyone to add in additional skins - users can easily create new skins that anyone can download for free from the content section of the game. Everything from the characters to the buttons/widgets can be skinned.
I’ve put a few screenshots below (and a couple of short gameplay videos) to give a better idea of how it comes together. All but one of the skins shown are additional and not included in the game (though they can be downloaded for free directly from the app). Comments/criticisms are welcome!
