I wonder if there’s some ‘beat’em up’ game made using U3D. Do you think Unity can manage something like … Super Smash Bros Brawl???

Although I can’t cite specific Unity games for you (they are out there), the answer to your question is absolutely a yes.
Unity provides you with a thorough framework suited for all genres of game design.
But easy as Unity is to use, it’s up to the talent and dedication of the designer, programmer and/or artist to do it.
