Beginner- Creating Characters

I downloaded Unity about 2 nights ago, Compliment: Love it!, but i am experimenting to get the Handle of controls before any Development proceeds. i will say this, i am a beginner to Creating games and coding, tho i can’t figure out how to make a character. i knew starting to make a game wouldn’t be easy, just need some info lol, im doing good so far, watched all the tutorials you offered, they helped a bunch!

you can’t create a character in Unity, you will need to create one with modeling software or buy them somewhere. you can import many formats into Unity.

if you are staring out, you probably don’t have much of a budget, so i’d suggest Blender for the modelling program (because it’s free  )

you can get it from www.blender.org

If you’re just starting out, you might not want to get into characters just yet. It’s just one of the harder things to tackle.

ok, Thanks for the info, I already have blender, learning that at the same time lol. i have a ways to go.

you could always go to places like http://www.turbosquid.com and search free people and get some stuff from there!

Or just use Bootcamp soldier as placeholder.

start small, with simple shapes. use basic forms to try out your game. when your more comfortable with modeling on any 3d software, then worry about creating characters.

I actually just tried out http://evolver.com/ and I got a high, medium, and low poly character fully rigged for about 35$ and was able to customize it to my needs. Basically saving me a few days/weeks of modeling and rigging. I would say it was worth every penny. In fact I used the same male model to create a female model because all of the polygons were in place for that. So for 35$ I made two custom models and have them rigged for about … Now I am making animation walk/run cycles for them. but yea http://evolver.com/ … check it out.

well, my advice is to start simple. Download blender, and make a spaceship maybe, or a tank, nothing too complex. Export to fbx and drop on your unity project. Maybe later you can move to animated characters.
