Hello. As a software developer I try to start in game development with Unity (I do not have any game engine experience). So I downloaded the free “Personal Version” of Unity and got a “UnityHub.AppImage” that I started on my Ubuntu 20.04 Linux OS. After trying the example projects and tutorials (that never worked), I went to “Installs” and added the latest “Unity 2020.1.6f1”. As I aim to write a game for most platforms, I checked Android, Linux, WebGL, Windows and downloaded … so far, so good.
Now I create my first project: Projects > New > Universal Render Pipeline … set a project name and the location and pressed “CREATE” … suddenly a “Verify your age” window pops up … eneterd my birthday … then “Terms of Serove … Thank you for your interest in the LEGO Microgame using the Unity Editor to …” - wait, what? No idea, … clicked “Agree & Continue” … :
“Error launching the editor: license is invalid”
That’s it! I have no idea why it says something about “LEGO Microgame” and why it asks for my brithday or why I have an “invalid license” … I downloaded the free personal version.
Can’t understand what has happened in your case because, as you will note from the Unity blog, the template is only available to download when you create a new project using Unity 2019.4 LTS (see screenshot below).
The “Verify your age by entering your date of birth” must be a LEGO® requirement, because you don’t need to do that when using any of the other templates.
Hm, okay I also installed Unity 2019 LTS. I also proceeded in the license question - somewhen a screen asked for the release version and I selected "private. … this time it worked as expecetd (no age request and no LEGO info). I thought I start with the latest 2020 Unity … was a bad idea, though.
