Beginner Question

Hi everyone!

I’m fascinated by this site!

Do I need to have 3D animation skills in order to work the Unity platform? or is the Unity platform like creating a website by using a web template, without needing any Java script knowledge?

btw,
I told my friend who does 3D animations about this site, she’s asking “are the files in maya and are rigged or not.?”

thanks for replying:)

No, you don’t need 3D animation skills to work with Unity. You could use 3D models and animations made by somebody else. Or you could be making a 2D game.

You do need to know how to program (or work with someone who does), however.

As for the 3D files, they can come from Maya (rigged or not) or they can come from some other 3D modeling app. Many people use Blender. I use Cheetah3d. It doesn’t matter.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply!

So just by purchasing a file and using the Unity platform, I won’t know my way around?

How would I know if these are Maya, rigged or not?

Does it say anywhere on the page if it’s compatible with Maya?

I’m sorry, I don’t know what you mean.

The package contents are shown. These are FBX files, a standard 3D file format. Maya can read and write those. Asking whether they were made in Maya is irrelevant — it’s like asking what text editor a text file was made with.

Generally an asset description will say if they’re rigged (and what animations are included, if any).

Just look up whether Maya can read FBX files. (It can.)
