Beginning Game Development in Unity3D

Hello

I am beginning to learn Unity3D, starting with the interface of course. I want to create a variety of games starting with basic games to increase my knowledge. I basically need a variety of sources which will help me create my very own game. Don’t jump into conclusions that I haven’t because I have a lot of tutorials to read and understand. If you could also tell me which order I should learn them then that would be spectacular.

Cheers

I would appreciate any replies. I have found walkerboys collection of tutorials and many on youtube and other sources. I just want to hear whats best from the community of Unity3D.

Cheers

Wish I knew. I’m still trying to get a good grasp on all of this. I’ve got modeling down or had it down in mudbox but then I was told that it’s better to use something like Blender, 3ds Max, or Maya so I’m pretty confused myself right now on where to start to make good characters that will work well with Unity.

Will Goldstone’s book is a great introduction as it takes you through the ins and outs of Unity. It was the first book that i read when i was starting.

That’s hard to say without knowing your existing skill set. This is a free tutorial that will give you a good overview: http://www.digitaltutors.com/tutorial/572-Beginners-Guide-to-Unity.

Game design is very large and has a lot of disciplines that it combines. I’d recommend starting with whatever you’re comfortable with (coding, art, etc) and figure out what you need to learn to start building the game. If you’re a coder, you can just use cubes and spheres. If you’re an artist, look at the programming tutorials and start learning fundamental programming.
