Shopping around for 2d frameworks and there are many, each with pro’s and cons.
Ideally an all in one solution would be best.
Physics, animation, gameplay, etc.
Which one do you think is best overall?
On all fronts.
Let me know what you think ![]()

2dtoolkit has been top dog for a while, but it looks like Uni2D is giving it some competition.
Uni2D’s 2.0 update is a huge upgrade. 1.0 was really simplistic, but now it’s serious competition. But it also has a very different approach to building than 2D Toolkit, so it might not fit everybody’s game designs. Uni2D is very freeform, and a has a great workflow for artists. 2D Toolkit is more of a classic tile-based tool, with more of a programmer’s approach (without PlayMaker/uScript extensions anyway), and it also includes its own GUI toolkit.
These are the ones I have, and I like both. I’ve looked at the free Orthello, but didn’t like it much. I don’t really know anything about the other kits.
