What is your favorite camera position in horror and/or survival games?
I’d also love to see your favorite horror games + their camera position and of course your opinion on the different view positions in this kind of games.

1st person in my opinion, but drawing the user in is more about the setting, the little noises, things appearing and disappearing quickly out of the point of view… things like that.
My favorite horror/suspense/survival game camera view is first person AND (more important to me) NO HUD.
There is nothing like not focusing on your ammo (weapons ruin horror/suspense games anyways) or health to focus on. Just you and the world. Players eyes will try to focus on objects but a good developer will screw around with players minds taking advantage of the players focusing efforts.
One of my favorite horror games is Fatal Frame.
I agree, first person and no hud. I think immersion is the #1 key to horror. Best to try to simulate real life in any and every way you can.
First Person. Overhead and Bird’s Eye give the player too much information. They can literally see what’s sneaking up behind them.

First person. Even try get rid of the HUD/GUI if possible…
I’d go with first person, too because of the already mentioned reasons. Though i didn’t think that it’s so obvious.
My only problem with first person is, that it can get too stressful to locate noises or things happening around you.
In some survival games the game might focus on scavanging and surviving rather on stressful horror effects.
