Best character modeling software for Mac?

I am sorry if this has been asked before, but after a long search I found suggestions for Windows. I apologize again if I overlooked a Mac OS suggestion thread. Basically, I want to know which modeling software will be the best choice for modeling characters in a Mac. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated =]

Cheers

Cinema 4d or Maya.

I suggest Cinema 4d is the most user friendly.

How much does Cinema 4d costs? I know there is no way I can afford Maya since it is ridiculously expensive.

Really don’t know but check here http://www.maxon.net/
Maybe you can email them to ask about indie or student discounts…

Oh, nice!! Some really good stuff on Cinema4D. Took a look around and it seems there is a free license for students. Also seems that Maya offers a free student license too for students. Question, have you ever used blender? I have heard good and bad things about it. For the most part, I have heard it is not reliable. If you have had experience using it, what do you think?

Blender is fine. I doubt you’ve heard it’s not reliable; that’s never a criticism I’ve heard once. You may have heard it’s difficult to learn, but that’s subjective, and the process for creating characters isn’t going to be super-easy no matter what software you use.

I use blender, takes a bit of getting used to but I feel like it works better than 3DS max + Blender is free.

Ok, thank you very much. I will give a go to Blender. As for where I heard, I been on a couple of game devs forums and there were a couple of harsh reviews for blender. Although, I’ve been over to blenderartists.org and I have seen some amazing things done in blender. I will definitely give it a go first.
