I have an iOS app in the app store now that’s currently using a Google Web Analytics wrapper to send “page” views and events to GA. This works fine, but we’re missing a lot of the “fancy” features that you get with regular GA integration via their javascript code. I started looking into replicating some of that functionality (time on site, etc) and gave up a while ago.
I had also tried using the Google App Analytics Beta, but wasn’t actually able to track any activity. Basically, it seemed that if you didn’t follow their default pattern of using their sub-class of UIViewController, things don’t work out. I’ll admit that we were working under a deadline so I didn’t try every last option in getting this to work, but long story short that was also fruitless.
Has anyone gotten Google App Analytics to work with their Unity iOS app? Do people prefer another package? I’ve heard a lot about Flurry, and it seems to be my first choice so far. Any other contenders?
This reply may be a bit too late, but I’d still like to mention my solution for integrating Google Analytics to Unity projects: Google Universal Analytics in Asset Store. (forum thread here)
Google’s new Universal Analytics has a “measurement protocol” specification, and the above package uses that to send hits to analytics. The advantage here is that there’s no need for native library for each platform. So the same code actually works on mobile, desktop and web player platforms. It’s implemented in pure C# and uses Unity’s WWW class for networking.
