The question is a classic but I need to continue to develop my 3D game, my current laptops can’t support the current point of development.
I’m an indie then I have a limited budget and I’m thinking to follow a no-brand like this: https://odwww.vibox.co.uk/gaming-pcs but I would like to have some good suggest for work with Unity with no worry
I hope thi thread is good for this forum, otherwise tell me and I move on right forum.
Also, remember if you are testing on the “Best config” what is it going to be like on all the other configs that aren’t of the “Best config” standard. Most laptops can handle Unity perfectly fine, and, from a developer point of perspective, you want to be testing on various grades of computer anyway so, yeah.
Food for Thought.
Thats pretty interesting in theory, perhaps ask what PC is common in the Unity QA department? Then you probably will run into as little problems as possible (I have a feeling it might be a maxed out MBPr 15)
For the desktop route I would just buy the components separately from a site like Newegg and put it together yourself. It’s very very simple, just watch a few of the many youtube videos or read one of the many guides out there.
You’ll save money and you can customize it exactly the way you want within your budget.
I don’t think you need an extremely powerful computer, or at least I haven’t found it necessary yet. One thing that I would recommend is to have a decent amount of RAM so you can have multiple programs running at once ( ie Unity, monodevelop, 3d program, a web browser, an image editor, etc. ).
Right, good and for this I can use my actuals laptops. But for development I need to something more because now I can’t run my game for the graphic card not is good for 3d. For that I ask you to suggest a good HW config to work.
I would recommend at the very least you buy a graphics card around the GTX 650 range. I’ve got a OC GTX 660 and it runs most games at high settings. It’s a great card and not too pricey; it’s also around what you can expect most modest gamers to have in a few years.
The 7790 is actually faster than a 650 Ti, although definitely slower than a 650 Ti Boost or the 660 you listed. This was my first non-Nvidia card, the reason I opted for it was because the 7790 uses a lot less power than the Ti Boost or AMD 7850 or higher cards etc. With my budget I didn’t want to go to a shoddy no-name PSU to get the recommended wattage.
Not trying to start a videocard debate lol. I think any mid-range videocard out today should work just fine for most Unity related tasks.
I get stupider by the day, didn’t see the GPU there and assumed you were running integrated graphics. So damn tired nowadays I just don’t even read stuff. Sorry, didn’t mean to imply the GTX series is better.
Many thanks to all for your suggest.
Can you tell me some link to a good UK or EU website where to buy? In my country (Italy) the prices are very high and I would like to buy on EU because the warrant is valid. Again, I need a shop where I can find components you have suggest above.
For your experience, this configuration could be good for my needs? That graphic card is good for 3D development? It’s miss from Steam list…
For Unity3d purpose development game, and more specifically a 3D platform side scroll game (with light effects, animations, etc), can I work with a AMD Radeon HD 6670 2GB DDR3 with no problem or I must purchase a Nvidia GeForce GTX 6xxx ? My question is based on a limited budget and no other…
And if I can use the Radeon HD 6670 2GB DDR3 after can I mount the Nvidia GeForce GTX 6xxx on the Gigabyte FM2 GA-F2A55M-DS2 ?
There is a very high chance that even Intel HD 3000 would be sufficient… Unless you’re making a platformer with AAA-grade graphics, if you are limited in budget - buy what is cheaper.
