best mouse to use for unity

hi i use photoshop, unity, blender, and logic to create my games and was wandering what the best mouse for the job is mainly for unity and blender. as i use a graphic pad for photoshop and sometimes blender.

i need a mouse which works and feel natural, i recently purchased the logitech mx performance and anywhere, i found these mice terrible for unity mainly because they are to heavy and the middle button doesnt work properly, infact the anywhere one doesnt even have a middle button.

found my self going back to a cheap ÂŁ2 mouse i purchased, only wanted the mx for dark laser and free scroll, but to be honest that dark laser is overated tried it on my glossy table and worked exactly the same as my cheap mouse, rubbish overpriced mice.

so what mice do you people use im looking for something light, feels nice, middle button works perfectly, a few extra buttons if possible and i would love to either speed up the scroll wheel amount of steps it takes and for it to have free spin on off

I use a cheap 20$ LogicTech wireless mouse . As a hard core gamer, I never thought i’d be using a wireless mouse , BUT I actually like the added freedom of not having a mouse cord

If you’re really serious you should get one of these: Gaming Mice - Wired and Wireless Gaming Mouse | Razer United States

I have logitech mouse, but if I could afford it I’d get a dedicated gaming mouse (not that I’m a huge gamer, but gaming mice offer the best precision, and in a lot of them are big enough to fit my hands. The average mouse is too small for my hands, but several models of gaming mice are adjustable)

yh all my mouses are wireless, i hate wires that get in the way of mouse movement, for gaming i have a separate wired mouse but thats only for onlive

that mouse looks crazy, the problem is there is no where to test the mouse before i buy it, i think i will look at some reviews check the weight and stuff maybe interested, i heard someone else going on about these mouses before so worth checking.

what about the logitech l700 any good, bit cautious about logitech seeing as all there mx mouses are rubbish

I have to agree with the wireless option. Currently I have

  1. Logitech MX
  2. Apple wireless keyboard
  3. Apple magic trackpad

It’s the best setup I’ve ever had and I’ve been doing this for 20+ years. I switch between the MX and the trackpad depending on what I’m doing. Not really sure why you dislike the MX so much.

This is really a personal thing though. In the past I’ve had good luck with Razer mice and a Model M keyboard.

Some of the Microsoft mice aren’t bad either. At the least the ones from a few years ago.

its the middle button, i love the feel and the extra buttons but the middle button just isnt responsive enough and i use this constantly, it shouldnt have to be pressed so hard and to the right in order for it to work, cause a lot of discomfort when working. the weight is a bit annoying as well, a bit to heavy for me, the scroll wheel increments are to much as well i found in unity i was zooming in much more per increment than my other cheap mouse.

for game design it should be slower, tried fiddling with settings but didn’t help. in all i think its just a botched design, the anywhere mouse doesn’t even have basic mouse buttons.

have you tried the g700 thinking about testing that out roughly same price.

keyboard i use a wired mac keyboard, not about to pay 40 pounds for a numpad which is used all the time in blender, mac keyboards are a rip off but i like theflat keys for scripting

I use a Razer Orochi, but the scroll wheel doubles as the middle button, so you may not like it. I like it because it’s both bluetooth and USB, so you can run it wired, but if you need to lean back, you can just unplug it and be free. It’s very precise (and you can adjust the precision on the fly with button on the mouse). It’s also a smaller mouse, which I actually like (not a dinky “mobile” but a little more compact than a standard mouse).

I use it with my Macbook Pro, and since it’s bluetooth, it doesn’t require a dongle.

Yh thats what i need a middle button on wheel with a few extra buttons, looking at mamba and orochi need to go test them somewhere

I looked at the mamba, but decided against it because it wasn’t bluetooth. My mbp has the USB ports on the left side, and I’m right handed, so the dongles don’t work well for me because the radio transmission on the dongle is blocked by the entire notebook.

Yh the mamba is only for desktop, its a bit faster. Orochi for macbook as the macbook is limited on ports, i have a powered usb dock but im rarly near a power source when out an i have to plug in severel other things

Get this one :

Logitech Bluetooth® Mouse M555b

Its the best mouse I have used with my Macbook Pro. I had a Razor Orochi too, but returned it after 1 week. It was horrible - unergonomical and it went to sleep whenever it felt like it.

I use this one

Wow, that looks more like an alien space craft then an mouse!

It’s freaking sweet  Just bought it today.

It took me a while to figure out how to middle click (as the middle strip is touch, and has no physical click), but you have to double click, and not single click, on the line in the middle. Also, you can set Macros, so when I do a middle click in Google Chrome, for example, it refreshes the browser

I have the Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX and i like it a lot. my whole desk has a glass cover over it and it works perfectly. It feels nice moving it on the glass too. I dont really mind not having a mid mouse click though. The fine and coarse scroll wheel is pretty cool imo.

I never heard of that, so I did a quick google on it.

I like this subnote for it:

So the glass has to be at least 4mm thick XD

That looks pretty good, is it a discontinued model? I didn’t see it on Logitech’s US site. They only show the v470 as a bluetooth mouse here. How is the battery life? I’m always searching for the best bluetooth mouse, so maybe I can find an importer.

As for the Orochi on your Mac - did you get the driver update (2.0)? I haven’t seen the sleep issues that you did.

I’m left handed and stubborn, so rather than get used to using a mouse in my right hand, I specifically bought one that’s ambidextrous. I use the Razer Lachesis, had it for couple years now and still going strong. Razer mice are great, the hardware is very high quality although their configurator (that’s actually what they call it ugh) software can be a little spacey sometimes, once you get it working it’s smooth sailing afterwards.

It is a wired mouse, i’ve used wireless mice in the past but i’d never use another one in the future unless I had no choice. They’re heavier, slower and you get input lag, it wouldn’t matter for basic pc tasks but if you’re also a gamer like me, they’re less than ideal in my opinion.

The most important thing though I think is to get a mouse that fits your hand well, ever used one of those mini mice for laptops? I got hand cramp within 20 minutes heh, not exactly useful for boosting productivity!

So then you use the old Arc?
