Best platform for online demos?

Hello Everyone! I have been working on a asset for a while now and now I have almost made the demo scene but I am having trouble in selecting a platform for the demo. Web Player was removed form Unity 5.4 and have been removed from major browsers way back. WebGL is current new and buggy (as I think) and also currently the machine I have access to will, by no means be able to either build a WebGL player demo or play it to test (in any browser) (no GPU). So I am stuck with Web-player. But well it isn’t really supported by browsers and hardly anyone will be able to use it. And I have seen many people here complaining about not uploading standalone demos but online ones as they don’t like to download demos before playing them…

So I am left with pretty much no choice of what platform to use… I am really confused. It would be great if you guys could recommend me something…

How about finding someone willing to put together a quick Let’s Play of the demo and then offer a standalone download?

WebPlayer is dead.

If you need 3D, use Unity and WebGL.

If you need 2D, use GameMaker and html5.

The problem is that the asset is only for Unity :(.

It’s a nice idea for games but will it work for assets too?

Send the file to a trusted friend and let them make the WebGL build for you.

Except the Web Player uses graphics hardware too. What’s your integrated hardware?

This was what I thinking to do. It is so much trouble to do so tough…

I never thought about using cloud build . Thanks for it!
And the intergrated gpu is Intel 82945G… (Yeah I know how crappy it is :().

Ah. Intel GMA 950. My previous laptop had that. I know the feeling. :stuck_out_tongue:

You can use older version of Unity, i think 5.3 works, for porting it to webplayer and hosting it to dropbox and then showcase to clients. Or as suggested, make a good video recording of it, and it will be a good option.

Except Webplayer support in browsers is fairly limited now and it’s only going to get worse as it goes unsupported.
