Best tool for creating meshes?

I’ve heard of a few (Blender, 3DSMax, Maya, etc.). Just wondering which is the best tool for creating meshes.

It’s subjective, but if you’re new to it, just use Blender. It’s free (instead of $3.5K), and it should do everything you’ll need. I personally found Blender the easiest to learn on and just do something with.

Max / Maya are more applicable in two situations:

  1. You have several artists working on your project. Not as many people are trained on Blender at the moment, so leaving them on Max / Maya makes more practical sense. But I predict this will change in the future.
  2. You are pushing high-level production values. Chances are, if you’re new, you aren’t.

Thanks. I’ll probably go with Blender. After all, this is my first game. Probably shouldn’t overestimate myself.

Nice thing about Blender is you can setup the key-mapping and controls to match Maya or Max, if you already know how to use one of those.
