My team and I are in the middle of developing a game. It’s being “devlogged” on our channel, and is planned to have multiple gamemodes. It’s a splitscreen multiplayer game, made for the PC and planned for PS4 and XBOX 1.
What are some of the best ways we can advertise this game before it’s release, so that people can know about the game, give input, and notified on when it is able to play?
@Billy4184 linked a great resource for building a community, which is the most important thing for “advertising” your game for the cheap (it’s actually free). I am, myself, in the same situation as you. Once we have an all-rounded UX and acceptable art, we’ll go with a Discord server for casual communication + Discourse forum for more serious topics which are usually longer.
This is pretty much the way to go when you’re on a budget.
Note that you still need to like doing these things. Or find someone that likes it. I mean, you should inspire enthusiasm and be friendly, kind to your members. Do fun stuff, be transparent, post about your progress, do polls.
Hope this helps
