Best way to make a splash (ripple)

I am making a game, and I want to make it so that when I enter into the water that it will make a continous splashing effect(kind of like a ripple). I am thinking that I may have to use a projector or something. Any help would be great!

Depends what look you are after. I would totally check out the ripple deformers in Mega-fiers in the Asset Store. You might think it is expensive but the power it gives you is amazing.

I'd use that along with a particle emitter for the splash back foam or water spray.

A slightly older effect is a particle emitter barely above (just below?) the surface of the water, glued to you. Set to horizontalBB, grow, and use a hollow-ring texture. You leave a trail of growing rings behind you.

when I attach to my prefab it falls with the character, I tried adding a world particle collider but with no success. Can someone help???
