Best way to show off Unity graphics skills

Hey everyone.

I was tempted to post this in the questions section but it’s really more of a matter of discussion.

So I’m trying to make some scene in Unity to show off all the things I have learned with how to make a scene pretty. A few things I really want to stretch my legs on are: PBR materials, volumetric lighting, particles and overall shader fancy stuff.

I’m thinking of the best scene to show this off. One thing is also making more than one and have a magical elevator between them all Inception style.

Anyone have thoughts on this? My best idea on this so far is an abandoned warehouse.

Follow your heart.

Abandoned warehouse is your best idea? Go for it! Doors that lead to strange places? Sure, why not? Elevators that will take you to the unexpected. Sounds good.

You could just as easily split your stuff between scenes and load them with a menu.

Any dilapidated, abandoned or old building. Personally, I’d go with a castle (because you can add all sort of fancy staff there - jewelry, statues, multiple metals, chandeliers, silverware, etc), but it is largely a matter of taste.

Here’s an unreal demo from 2012:

I also had an idea of an “alchemist workbench” when I thought of something similar - meaning you could make a wooden table, put it near a window, and just keep adding all kind of shiny and interesting stuff to it - fantastic instruments, gems, cogs, etc.

lol

That’s easier but I’d like to make a nice seamless experience with it. I also haven’t experimented with scene transitions well enough. Everything about this really is about being ‘cool’.

Castle is pretty good. Good way to show interior and exterior lighting and yeah for all the things you listed.

The stained glass windows with refraction would be hella pretty.

This. I would be more impressed with an accurate visualisation of a human heart over some old buildings. Everyone does old buildings.

What I want to see (couldn’t model this myself) is this in Unity
