beta 12 not working on OSX 10.8.5?

Attempting to launch Unity 5 beta 12, it freezes on the ‘Activate your Unity license’ screen. (consistent after re-install and reboot)

Anyone successfully installed it on 10.8?

Hi, copy/pasting a serial number into the activation window may trigger an editor crash. Try typing it in instead.

Thanks, but I only get as far as typing 5 characters before it freezes. Works fine on 10.9.
Is there perhaps a way to move a license in to a location so that it skips this window altogether?
