Bike Sim Alpha Test

Have started work on my bike sim again using Unity. Here is the first alpha version for testing.

Press escape to pause the game or modify the game settings so the bike handles differently.

Take a screenshot and post it here if you find an interesting setup.

Current version: 3.0.0:

Webplayer?

And people like screenshots, too.

Version 1.1.0 is up!

http://homewreckersstudio.blogspot.com/p/super-trial.html

Changes:

  • Changed bike physics geometry so it doesn’t “stick” to the walls as much.
  • Fixed the reverse to be more user friendly.
  • Added lap timer.
  • Added best lap tracking.
  • Added speedometer.

Mac build? Webplayer? It’s not hard- Unity does have ‘one-button publishing’ for a reason.

Also, the camera should be attatched to the bike. A biker leans with the bike. Also, handling once you pick up speed is a problem. You think you’ve braked enough, but the game tells you you haven’t so you hit a wall- yet you stick in the wall, and just stop. The wall should have a slippery physics material- then the bike can move along it. without losing as much speed as it does.

Megaupload…really?

Alpha version 1.2

Changes:

  • Added main menu.
  • Added camera roll.
  • Added FOV change based on speed.
  • Bike can always lean at full lean angle when over minimum turning speed.
  • More settings.

Next I am going to implement networked multiplayer before too many features get implemented in the game.

Rather than doing builds, you may want to do a webplayer instead.
Also, the camera now comes WAY too far off of the bike when leaning. AS I said before, fix the camera so the the bike is NEVER too far from the center of the screen.

If you press escape to bring up the pause menu and go to the settings page there are two variables called camera offset X and camera offset Y.

Can you please adjust these and tell me the result so I can better understand what you mean?

These don’t change it- when I biker goes round a corner, their head does not stay perfectly vertical. It needs to lean WITH the bike, not just move to the side. Also, I shouldn’t be able to lean the bike all the way at slow speeds without falling off.

Nice game . moto controller is very good.

Version 2.0 is released.

This version contains online multiplayer functionality.

Changes:

  • Host network game
  • Display list of available network games
  • Join network game
  • Interpolation/extrapolation to smooth out the effects of lag

Can you put up a webplayer?

Dropbox.

I will look into the web player.

You can put up your webplay build into a public dropbox folder, then get a link and just share that. Much easier and its free :stuck_out_tongue:

I tried the web player before but it’s just unplayable because of really long random pauses. You can see for yourself:

I found the webplayer to be entirely lag-free; and quite enjoyable. I had to make my own ‘~Vroooom~’ motorbike SFX; while riding around the track for about 30-minutes. Hitting a wall and being forced to a complete stop; in the exact place brought me a negative feeling deep within the fiery flaming cave of doom. [Stomach] which resulted in me; kicking up the bike-stand and turning off the engine.

Overall quite enjoyable; I liked it!
Go Go Green Motorbike! :sunglasses:

I played the webplayer for a good 15 minutes and I experienced no lag or pauses.

Same here and I’m using an old Core Duo Macbook Pro.
