Well its a long shot, but has anyone got Bioshock to work with boot camp 1.x (I’m on a Macbook pro,OsX 10.4.11). It plays the intro right up to the point where it fades out to presumably start the game then dies.

Yes, I went through 2K tech support on this when it was released. They asked me to lower the shader quality setting and that fixed it. Good luck.

Ah right, I’ll give that a go, thank you

Ricko did you have any problems in Full screen mode? I seem to have got it working in windowed mode and then I can make it full screen but If I try to load while in full screen it hangs and I have to force quit.

I did not have problem loading in full screen once the shader issue was resolved. What generation of MBP do you have, or more importantly, which graphics card do you have?
Ricko
Thanks a lot. It is the Santa Rosa 15" 2.4 Core 2 Duo with GeForce 8600M GT 256. I can’t imagine that is the problem so maybe a driver issue, perhaps I’ll try re-installing the ones I burned to disc if poss.
Cheers for the help.

I had the earlier MBP with Radeon X1600 so I can’t confirm it works on yours but at least you have a workaround for playing it by launching windowed.
Enjoy it.
Ricko
Yes, thanks for the help.

Wow, the problem turned out to be this
Now I’ve seen obscure in my life but that is the daddy of them all.

I got it working by using a different DirectX driver than the one that Apple uses. There are people out there who take the Windows drivers and ‘hack’ them to work with the mobile parts. Apparently the driver supports the mobile parts, but unless you pay nvidia to do a port for your hardware you won’t get support for your mobile version. After using one of the hacked drivers, the game worked right away and I got great (not excellent but great) performance.
Seems to be working perfectly now I disabled the tablet thingamujig, I would also say that performance is great - that is, a lot lot lot better than crysis
