Biped Character help please?, idle ok but no run or walk!

Hi,

I have followed the post here: http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=61287&highlight=biped+3ds+max

But as my title says, my character wont run or walk! It loops the idle animation part fine but trying to run or walk and my character just glides across the terrain in a static pose!

What info do I need to provide to asist anyone helping me please as I am new to Unity and this is my first attempt at character set up. I have done my scene with no probs, just cant get my head around getting the animations to work. I have read the following links but feel I am missing a vital/important step.

BTW, My character is a Biped animated character from 3ds max if that helps! I have read the above link and this one:

http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/Manual/Character-Animation.html

PS:
Settings for my character in Unity are as follows:

Bake animations (ticked)
anim compression:keyframe reduction
animation wrap mode:default
split animations (ticked)

Idle = 251-279 (wrap mode loop) (other loop ticked also)

walk = 282-311 (wrap mode default) (other loop ticked)

run = 360-382 (wrap mode default) (other loop ticked)

my script (BoloB Control Script.js) is as follows:

function Update ()
{
if (Input.GetAxis(“Vertical”) > 0.2)
animation.CrossFade (“walk”);
else
animation.CrossFade (“idle”);

On my character I have attached:

Third person controller
Third Person Player Animation
BoloB Control Script.js

Any help would be great, thank you :>

You need the wrap mode set to loop for all the animations or else override the mode from the script with animation.wrapMode:-

function Start() {
  animation.wrapMode = WrapMode.Loop;
}

Hi Andeee, Thank you for your reply. I found this page with a tutorial that I followed (and actually got working! on my first attempt, but not too hard tho as everything was provided for me,lol): http://www.unitylabs.net/tutorials/character-controllers/third-person-character-controller

All I gotta do now it take it to the next step and work out for myself how to add other actions like jump etc!

Many thanks again for your assistance, much gratitude to you indeed :slight_smile:
