Biped Linked objects dont have texture in unity?

I have a character i made in 3Ds max and skinned/animated.The character has 2 swords and some other gear that are linked to different biped bones,after i export to fbx and import in unity all submeshes that are linked to biped are shown as 1,are greyed out,have improper texture and i cant reassign materials,while the rest of the character body which is only skined not linked its textures can be modified.
I tried out using helper linked to biped bone and object to helper still same result anyone know how to fix this for unity?

I have managed to fix this by importing the meshes individually and then just drag them to biped specific bones after i position them in unity.
Seems like linking to biped in max and exporting all togheter wont work.
