So with Black Friday around the corner what is Santa getting you for your game dev needs?
New tech like RTX cards, new processors and mobos, VR headsets, or perhaps even a stint with google stadia. Who’s excited?

Don’t forget new assets, too!
The Asset Store’s Black Friday Sale starts tomorrow.
Yes I totally forgot, what assets have you got your eye on? I’ve never purchased assets before.
I’ll be browsing what’s on sale this week. If you have your eyes on any assets, this is the week to consider purchasing them. 400 top assets will be 50% off, and one asset each day will be 70% off. Here are the details: Asset Store Black Friday
I’m waiting for the 3950x. Any day now
Hoping for RTX 2080Ti ![]()
You shouldn’t support that line of cards, fubar pricing on nvidias part
What’s the alternative though? ![]()
I’m on a 1080 TI and sitting this one out.
I need me some RTX light probes though, hopefully unity release shouldn’t be too far away.
Let’s hope nvidia have come to their senses when it comes to the pricing of 30xx lineup
You think there’ll come a point when light mapping gets killed for good? I don’t like watching people struggle with that tech, it kills me. Lightmapping is clearly the biggest troll since Picasso trolled the Art World.
I really wish so, but it will take time, more so in VR
True, I just wanna play with [these]( Blender 2.8 released! page-3#post-5167937) shenanigans, except in game. Unreal, looks the best so far, but I read somewhere their build times can exceed hours so pffft
.
Have to admit I’ve been underwhelmed by the Black Friday sales. To date I’ve only gotten a pair of 2TB NVMe SSDs from ADATA which were upgraded to a higher tier model (+33% IOPS performance) thanks to a problem they had getting the ordered drives to their warehouse (truck wrecked).
Just discovered (thanks to /r/buildapcsales) that the Xbox One S (the digital only model meaning no support for discs) is on sale for $149. Between needing a new wireless controller, wanting to try out UWP, and Xbox Game Pass, this might be one of the better sales for me.
I’m not sure if I can wait for Black Friday, I might just go on a spending spree before or after.
I just picked up Bakery on the black friday asset store sale. Good stuff
Does it work on massive scenes then without memory issues? That was always my concern.
Have only bought it, not tested it. But it seems it should work yes.
edit: You dont even need massives scenes for PLM GPU to not work. Just a tiny weeny scene will switch to CPU ![]()
What does it mean by the networked settings? Does it overcome the GPU memory issues if you’re using computers in tandem, or is that just daft thinking?
