Blender Animate

I know that Blender animations can’t be used in Unity, but is there any way to convert them to a file that can have its animations used? I just learned how to animate in Blender, even though I knew I couldn’t use it. :frowning:

Not currently, no.

Curses. Why don’t they get to work on that darned Blender! >_>

trust me i feel your pain. getting an FBX exporter written is the problem - it was seeming there for a while like it might happen but now who knows. meh.

I looked at an FBX-porter’s site from a topic a ways back. It hadn’t been updated for quite some time.

there have been a few times where something was started then for whatever reason it just died. its been very frustrating. if you’re referring to this thread:

i haven’t heard anything new - but he did roll what he worked on into the new blender release. there’s a note about it on this page:

hopefully “yet” means sometime soon ; )

There’s always the Dim3 Inspire method, though I gather Dim3 isn’t the most user-friendly thing in the world. But it’s free. I haven’t tried it, but someone wrote a tutorial a while ago. Do a search…

Eek. I tried Dim3 “Inspire”, but was quite uninspired by it, even with the tutorial.

There is fbx exporting of animations from blender under active development…

Well that is good. I hope I can use my animations in Unity soon. Blender 2.45 anyone?

i don’t think blender would even need an update really as its just a script - though i don’t know for sure what avenue is being taken.

great news ; )

Hey Nicholas, how “active” is the development? I’ve been busy with other things and haven’t been tracking the project’s development as of late. Is Cambo still working on this or has someone else picked up the project? Last I read, Cambo was reluctant to work on the rigging / animation portion. I’ve tried to nudge other developers to pick this up, but so far no takers.
