I am using Blender to animate “handgun hands” in hopes to apply it to an avatar mask in Mecanim.
The problem is that when importing OR using the blend file directly my hands “scrunch” up as seen in the picture. But it only happens when I set the rig to humanoid, I need it set to humanoid in order to apply it to my character as a mask. I was wondering if anyone has the solution to this issue.
Just a guess - maybe your trouble is really just caused by your avatar mask ? You can actually configure mecanim humanoid. Click the avatar item in hierarchy, then from inspector click configure, and see what your limits are for arms. I haven’t had need to touch those settings but mecanim humanoid basicly works within range of allowed movements for joints (which you can define/modify), so this might be causing some issues.

When I was working in blender I animated the arm bones(Humerus) that Mecanim wasn’t using.
So just started over without touching those bones and it works fine now!
