Blender Collada Script Supports Armatures now

When will Unity enable this?

The link you gave only mentions armature import support.

Unity should btw. already support importing the armatures from Collada files. We just have to wait for Blender to export them.

Edit: You can btw. follow the progress on the colladablender project more closely on this address: http://colladablender.illusoft.com/downloads.html

Crap! weeps

Yeah, I got all excited about that announcement this morning, but it’s only import into Blender not export out - still no way to get skinned animation from Blender to Unity.

But check out this thread http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=2659, where Martin of Cheetah3d indicates the next version (v4) will support skeletal animation export via fbx. And Cheetah integrates perfectly in Unity. Hopefully the animation Gods will smile on us soon…

If he can cram in texture baking, too, we have a winner!

Blender already supports texture baking, go to blenderartists.org and search the forum for the “brbaker” script.

actually its BRayBaker, you can get it here:

prepare yourself for lots of headaches post editing ; )

Dan was referring to Cheetah 3D, I believe he’s already used texture baking in Blender.

The native Unity .blend file importer internally already goes through collada since 1.5.
