Blender: Moving a vertex moves the whole object

When I attempt to move a vertex in edit mode, it moves the whole object, no other vertexs are select apart from the one i am intensionally moving

Then you might have proportional editing enabled. Before moving that vertex, press “O” and then try again.

I can confirm nipoco’s suggestion. Proportional editing can be useful, but if you don’t know what it is and/or how to turn it off, it can be a pain. Honestly, I can’t think of anything else that would move the whole mesh like that unless you have some kind of extremely strange contraint set up or something really weird, especially since I don’t think contraints can work on individual vertices.
