Hi There
I have just finished an exporter for Blender 2.58 which makes the process of getting ShapeKeys and animations into MegaFiers and Unity a very easy process. I wasn’t too bad before using Obj files but now its a couple of clicks to get all the shapekeys and all the animations from blender to Unity, works just the same as the Max exporter.
Now to add support for a very professional high end morphing system that I have been asked to add by a certain company
Chris
I’ve been looking out for something like this for a while now. Is this gunna be better or worse than this?: http://rezzable.com/metamorph
Hi Zomby
Well both systems get to the same end result via slightly different routes it seems, one big plus point for metamorph is it’s free
If you just need a morph solution that works with Blender then try metamorph and see how it goes for you, if it doesnt do what you need or you need the extras that MegaFiers provides then please feel free to ask me in detail as to whether MegaFiers provides what you need.
Chris
Actually one area where MegaFiers is better is MegaFiers uses actual keyframe info only instead of sampling each shape at every frame of the animation, so reducing the data size.
Chris
From what I’ve seen in your video MegaFiers looks like a cleaner system. I haven’t had a proper chance to tryout metamorph fully yet tho. Is MegaFiers gunna be a paid for thing? If so then what’s the price range?
The morph system is a tiny part of the MegaFiers system, more info can be found on its own thread http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/89750-Mega-Fiers.-A-mesh-deformation-system-RELEASE it is in the Asset store now at $100, so as I said you may want to try the metamorph system first if you dont need any of the extras MegaFiers provides.
Chris
I’m thinking of giving this a try. Does the thing on the asset store have everything I need ? I couldn’t find any python scripts in the packege contents list.
Zomby138 you need to contact the author with the invoice details for the exporter, it is mentioned on the website.
Just a note to say if there are any users of Blender 2.66 that are having problems with the BlendShape exporter we do have an updated version for 2.66 available now.
A new version of the exporter is available now which fixes a syntax error that could occur if you exported blendshapes that had no animations attached.
Where to get aforementioned exporter? And will it work with Blender 2.65?
@username707 - You just need to email me or submit a support ticket at the website with your details and I will get the exporter sent out to you, yes the exporter works with all versions of Blender.
