I’m not sure if this question has been answered before, I’ve looked and found no results… and I know this is probably a simple question but I am new to Blender so bear with me.
The standard sphere in Blender you get on the left is what I have to work with but I need it to look like the one on the right. I don’t know how to reduce the lines so I get the result on the right.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.
In Blender when you first create a primitive object there are parameters in the tools panel to adjust the mesh resolution. Depeing on screen size/UI it may be hidden and you need to scroll down. I forget what the hot key it to toggle the tools panel sorry. It might be hidden … But that should do it… You also have the option of editing the mesh to achieve your look, but the first option is definitely faster.
Thank you for the reply.
I tried everything and subdivide is the closest to what I had in mind except it only makes more lines [ they’re called edges right? ] instead of less.
this is an absolute basic function problem
try looking for a simple beginner tutorial for blender on youtube to cover at least the basic functions
you might want to look into deleting edgeloops and how to edit primitives
Thank you for the reply.
I have looked at several tutorials and I still continue to look them up, but if you know a tutorial that explains how to solve this issue then please link me to said tutorial so I can check it out.
They have told you already specifically how to add a sphere with less geometry. When you first add it(BEFORE you move it, or change anything), on the toolbar on the left side of the 3d view at the botton, there are options. This applies to most of the tools in fact. Those options let you change settings of the current tool you are using just before finalizing its usage, in this case changing the geometry of the sphere before fully adding it in. The options you are looking for will be under the word “Operator” on that toolbar. In the case of the UV sphere, you get Segments, Rings, Size, and can also auto-gen UVs if you so wish.
If for some reason you are missing the tool bar, have your mouse in the 3d view and hit ‘T’ to bring it up.
Thank you for the reply.
I found what you meant when you say it appears when I first create a sphere. I thought it would be in the tools section itself but it turns out it’s directly under it. Thank you for your help. My issue is now solved.
