Blender subsurf question

I added a Blender model to a Unity scene. The model has the Subsurf modifier on it’s mesh. (it’s the Gingerbread Man tutorial). I was surprised that in Unity the model was fully smoothed. So the geometry that imported into Unity was the one after the subsurf modifier was applied? Do all the modifiers in Blender work this way as well, upon import?

(This might be a general question about importing from all 3d tools - not sure)

Thanks!

Never mind. I see now the Fbx exporter in Blender by default has “apply modifiers to mesh objects” enabled. Nice!

Keep in mind, though that the smoothed version probably has waaaay to many polygons for a realtime game. The gingerbread man tutorial is rather for animation and rendering than it is for game assets.

In case of the gingerbreadman I’d say: try to aim for 500 polys (or 1000 triangles).

Yep thanks- got that!
