Does anyone else have this problem when weight painting?
I select the mesh that I want to paint weights for by selecting it and going into weight painting, holding shift and clicking to bring up the available bones I can use. Problem is, I often find it impossible to select the bone I want; often it doesn’t show up in the list of available bones. I’m sometimes able to select it by orientating the camera in a certain way but it’s a real pain.
Right now I’m rigging a tree and I can select bone Trunk.001 and Trunk.003 but not Trunk.002 - even though Trunk.002 is the most likely candidate to use for this part of the tree.
Any idea what’s going on? I’ve consistently had this problem when rigging and it feels like I’m constantly battling the system to get it working.
EDIT: You can get around this by selection your armature, going into pose mode, selecting the bone you want, and then jumping back to weight painting for your mesh. This is fiddly and annoying, though.
