EDIT: New version for everyone to play with - the art is still placeholder but the gameplay is getting more complete. There are lots more levels/ideas in this version and you can restart when you die and skip around levels to your hearts content. Let me know what you think!
N.B. You may have an issue with textures not loading the first time you play, hitting restart seems to fix this (I think its because its a streaming player)
At the beginning, i was running around, exploring the movement, and that annoying popup window always told me go to the chest
I think it would be much much better if i could click on anywhere, and start drawing the path from there. Like, i click somwhere, it draws a line from the ship to that spot, then i draw. I dont like clicking on my ship again and again, especially if it is moveing and iām in fight. Not that it is hard, but it would be better if i could click anywhere
a smoother camera movement would be good too
those wallās joints are not very good some of them has the same height and the textureās are vibrating/flickering (sry for my english i hope you understand :))
Its a great game! I love the idea! i think this could end up on steam someday, but still needs alot of improvements. your GUI is boring and pops up at random out of nowhereā¦the walls are a bit messed up and the blimp moves quite slow. Otherwise,
AMAZING
i played it for like 20 minutes before i relized that it was an indie game lolz
Good stuff. Controls were fine once I got the hang of it.
You can fix the āflickeringā walls by setting you cameras Near clip plane as far as possible (large float value) and your Far clip plane as near as possible (small float value). You have to experiment but this will clean up the flickering.
Yep, as I said this demo has more of a gameplay focus and the graphics are going to be completely replaced before I ship this thing - thanks for the tip about z-fighting though
I agree that dragging the blimp can get a bit cumbersome but later levels are going to incorporate multiple blimps so it would be impossible to have the control scheme work like that for the whole game and I dont really want to pull the rug out from the player halfway through the game! Also the target platform is probably going to be iPad (if i can save enough money to afford the hardware) so the touch interface should be a little more intuitive.
VLK - i fixed that bug about the message popping up, i agree its annoying as hell!
thanks for all the positive comments! Iāll try and get a new version up some time soon for people to give more feedback on, im going to start trying to tighten up the art also.
I like it, itās a little hard to fly if you do what I ended up doing and dragging and then just holding somewhere infront of the ship as itās moving.
Doing that is fine when youāre going in a straight line but when you need to turn 90 degrees somewhere ahead of you you start making steps in the path if your not moving the mouse constantly. Probably not how youāre supposed to control it anyway, but thatās what felt natural to me.
This creates an even bigger problem when the camera auto-shifts to a gate when it opens because you get a path shooting over and back with the camera. I realise you can just grab the blimp again and draw a new path, but again, holding down the mouse just seems to be my natural urge; rather than doing lots of small grab and drags.
Very nice! I made a game with a similar click and drag interface, but I had a really hard time getting my model to translate nice and smooth. Iād like to pick your brain on your technique if youāre up for it.
there are some nice gameplay elements in here. the level design is pretty good also, itās easy to learn and this is one of the few games that i think has an appropriate difficulty level. the small tutorial is good also, it teaches everything you need to know but itās not too long, other tutorials often end up being too long and too boring.
the controls are not perfect yet, but i think it will work alot better on the iPad.
there is still alot work to be done, but this early prototype looks very promising and iām looking forward to seeing the next build of this game
