Looks good, but no matter what direction I face in the scene, the particles are always hitting me right in the face. That shouldn’t be the case in my opinion.
I know. It was a tradeoff instead of filling the whole scene with particles. used another camera and just hit particles at it. See if I can figure something out to make it less obvious. Thanks!
Filling the whole scene is definitely not a good idea. I would suggest parenting the particle system to the main camera and then just modify the world velocity.
Thats what I do with the snowflakes but with the bigger snowdust i couldn’t get satisfying result using that technique. I’m thinking that somehow restrict the movement of the second camera to just be the rotation in z-axis of the main camera so when you look down in the ground the snow wont come at you. Needs some scripting I guess, scary
Strange. So the webplayer didn’t work for you at all?
Real nice work I saw a couple of lines in the texture and was wondering if its just my PC. The funny thing is i have a snow scene as well that has lines like this too and was wanting to know if anyone knows what causes these. My guess is lighting.Out of all the scenes i have its only with snow
thats pretty cool. is it rotating cylinders in some way?
It happens to me all the time when I use lights on the terrain. No idea why and I don’t know how to fix it. I just try do minmize the artifacts as much as I can. I have noticed that it is especially obvious when your lights are really bright. To me it happens close to where the range of the light ends. Is it the same for you?
Im not 100% sure but for me it looks like that the strechted particles causing those lines. I had a similar effect when I tried to to stretch my particle system.
Yes most of the lines are clearly from intersecting or stretched planes from the particles but there are some permanent in the terrain that comes from the lights
Maybe you could add a frozen effect on the camera?
Something a flake staying on the camera.
There is also a way to add one more floor on the top with a very very low alpha value, uvs animation and wave texture to simulate a wind cleaning the floor.
Looks great runs without any stutter on my intel 945GM integrated graphics in my laptop! (C2D 2.13GHz processor and 2GB Ram)
I must say this is incredibly impressive, and done in Unity Indie! Very well done! Maybe this demo will make some others be a little more understanding of how powerful Unity Indie is!
Edit: I looked all over for a base camp or some kind of facility. I just felt when playing it that there would be something more. I even followed all the light beacons to the top of the mountain. The atmosphere is amazing. It really sucked me in. I haven’t felt that into a game environment in years!
Thanks for the tips. never tried uv animation in unity but i might give it a shot. Do you meen duplicate to whole terrain and raise it abit then?
Thank you. Actually it is very basic stuff. Terrain, a couple of textures, some lensflares and a bit of particles thats it But Unity is very quick to work with which I love. You can get something decent up and running in a short time. Maybe I have something that could be a basecamp lying around. gonna scan the computer
The irony is that I am probably one of those others you are talking about
