blur effect

is there a blur FX shader that can be used on a transparent object ?
there are various ones that distort, and look like heat haze or glass, but I want one without distorsion… just a transparent blur, with control on how much blur is achieved…

more like soft frosted transparent glass ?
like the full screen effect… only not fullscreen, something I can map onto an object.

Look at the heat refraction shader in that thread. It might be what you’re looking for. It’s discussed in Forrest’s particle talk from one of the Unite videos as well.
