I just switch over to Unity 2019.3 am I’m noticing my editor text is looking rather fuzzy / blurry.
I’m not sure exactly what is causing this issue but I can definitely tell the difference between the old text and the new one.
I have attached an image below showing the same project hierarchy side by side as an example. I would really love any suggestions on how to fix the issue!
I think it’s the default inter font - if you go to Preferences > General you can change the Editor font. I can pick Inter or Verdana and Inter seems to show some anti-aliasing that Verdana doesn’t have.
I just found same thing - like 2018 is great, switch to 2019 & by default is blurry… WHY?
Well it is the default Inter font indeed - change back to the Verdana/2018 font and fine, so Unity can you explain why you would make the editor text look/read render worse by default? Maybe the Unity team are all on 4k monitors now
However even with Verdana font it is not as sharp and pixel-snapped as in 2018 so seems an annoying step backwards
Hit just the same issue after using the new version of Unity. Tried both the font options and the second one was smaller and less clear! This is a really fundamental thing. Not everyone has retina display monitors which I presume is what’s needed for it to look respectable. I use 1920x1080 and it looks really horrible and hard to read. Surely there is a way to get this one thing back? Generally I like the updates that have been a long time coming but this is straining my eyes and slowing me down!
Well the new font looks embarrassingly bad compared to the old one on Windows.
Even when you use the old font it has this new bold text which is quite blurry and very thick - not as good as 2018. It seems the font rendering has changed.
Given the editor is doing it’s own font rendering and not using Windows UI & Clear Type, it really must do the best possible job if we are going to stare at it all day. I don’t think it’s nit picking
So I’ve just poset my discent on the comments for that “by design” response and I encourage other to too. Hopefully they will listen to what is not a subjective problem but a needless backward step in the interface. Visual Studio looks better than it!
Unity, you’re being shamed by Microsoft!!!
I can’t believe they closed it. I can feel my eyes constantly trying to refocus on these blurry text elements. Managing eye strain is part of UI design 101 how could they screw this up?
Feels like its the 90’s again and were running Linux.
